Lila Grossman
Lila Grossman, age 93 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Lila was born and raised in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Samuel and Dora Zalkind Berkman. She was an avid reader and instilled that love of literature and the pursuit of knowledge to her children and their children. Returning to Bridgeport in 1974 after living in Chevy Chase, MD, and then Stamford, CT, Lila operated the family business, Berkman's Liquor Store, until her retirement. She is survived by her beloved husband Paul Grossman, devoted children Lisa Lust and her husband Dean Fischbeck, Bernard Lust and his wife Kathy, and Sam Lust and his partner Ginni, cherished grandchildren Sarah Lust and her husband Michael Gramlich, Zach Lust, Bobby Fischbeck, Sammy Fischbeck, and Danny Fischbeck, and adored great-grandchildren Elliot and Henry. Lila was predeceased by her son, Sidney Lust, a sister, Helen Fisher, and by her husbands, Bernard Lust and Melvin Geller. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 (TODAY) at 12:00 p.m. DIRECTLY at Old Rodeph Sholom Cemetery, 22 Shepard St. in Fairfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 2385 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
