Robert Bloom Obituary

Robert H. Bloom
Robert H. Bloom (Bob) was born in New York City on January 6, 1931, and died on January 20, 2024, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Predeceased by his daughter Allison, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Bloom, his sister-in-law Lynn Bloom, and nephew Laird Bloom (Sara).
Bob graduated from the University of Michigan with a Juris Doctor Degree and a Master's in Tax Law from New York University School of Law. While in the U.S. Army, he served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG), where his major responsibility was resettling refugees from the Hungarian Uprising of 1956, primarily by arranging marriages for unwed couples who escaped together. Bob also played an active role in resolving the 1947 Texas City Disaster.
He was a Partner of The Paskus, Gordon, and Mandel Law Firm, which merged with White and Case Law Firm in New York City, where he became Of Counsel. A member of Oasis Club, an international group of lawyers that met in major cities of the world, he and his wife traveled to the world's capitals. Highlights included a trip by Camel through the Negev Desert to a Bedouin Camp in Israel. They also went on safari in Africa's Maasai Mara Game Preserve and traveled the entire African continent. On another trip, they traveled by ship along the West Coast of Norway north to the Arctic Circle. Bob and Lois also pulled their horse trailer with pony and horse cross country from CT to Palo Alto, CA. Machu Picchu in Peru was also one of the many great adventures. Bob was an ardent golfer beginning in his early teenage years and continued throughout his life. He enjoyed the Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Weston, CT, where he was one of the founding members. Bob loved playing the golf courses in Williamsburg, VA, where he and Lois retired in 2012. Bob will forever be loved and remembered as a man of integrity and will be missed dearly.
There will be a graveside service for Robert at Aspectuk Cemetery in Easton on Saturday, February 3rd, at 11:30 a.m. For Travel Directions or to sign Bob's online guest register, please visit www.LeskoFuneralHome.com.
