Robert Lawrence Toothill of Port Charlotte, FL, previously of Newtown, CT, passed away Sunday December 4, 2016 at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehab Center in New Milford at the age of 85.
He was born December 27, 1930 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Charles and Helen (Buckley) Toothill. After graduating high school, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On September 15, 1951 he married Jacqueline St. Pierre. Mr. Toothill was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post office for 30 years before he retired in 1992. In 1998 they moved from Newtown, CT, to Port Charlotte, FL, where he was a member of the Moose Lodge. They live in Port Charlotte until his wife Jaqueline passed away on February 9, 2016. Mr. Toothill enjoyed reading; doing puzzles and was an avid baseball fan.
Mr. Toothill is survived by his son R. Thomas Toothill and his wife Kathy of New Milford, CT, his daughters Melissa Shaw of Waterbury, CT, Joyce Sherlock of North Port, FL, and Barbara Jones of Danbury, NH, a sister Katherine Wargo of Shelton, CT and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, CT, at11:00am.
