Vincent DiScala Obituary

Vincent J. DiScala
Vincent J. DiScala, age 90, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Virginia Ligi DiScala, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Norwalk on September 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Angelo and Margaret Gilbertie DiScala. After high school, Vincent served his country with pride in the 1st Calvary of the U.S. Army during World War II. Vincent was a retired store manager for Firestone Tire with over 40 years of dedicated service. He amazed his family with his total recall of all his patrons and friends he made throughout the years. Known as, "The Mayor of Hilltop Circle", he made many long lasting friendships throughout the neighborhood where he was loved by all. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, watching the UCONN Lady Huskies, and yelling at Joe Girardi while watching the New York Yankees. Above all, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The memories and unconditional love he gave will always live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife, Virginia, of 65 years, survivors include two loving sons, Joseph DiScala and his wife Lynn of Fairfield, and Robert DiScala and his wife Joanne of Trumbull; four cherished grandchildren, Dominic DiScala, Gina Benevento and her husband Vincent, Vincent DiScala, and Dana Calash and her husband Kurt; four adored great grandchildren, Vince, Leo, Giovanna, and Clark; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his two sisters and their husbands, Mary Space and her husband Kenneth and Caroline Fallon and her husband Al. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. "Uncle Vinny". My fav uncle of all times! I'm so glad I got to see him again 2 xmas eve ago on a visit. I recall as a kid, the 'look' he'd give me as a kid when he said "how can your back tires be worn out completely when the front ones are like new"? I'd shrug my shoulders as a young teen "defective?"lol. It was like explaining to my dad. You're in great hands now with the Lord, my prayers are with the family. RIP
