Born Jan. 16, 1913, in Ickesburg, she was a daughter of the late Franklin B. and Sara (Shaffer) Sheaffer, and the widow of Arthur H. Frownfelter, who died Dec. 9, 1956.
Mrs. Frownfelter attended and graduated from Spruce Bank School, Perry County, and was formerly employed at Carson Long Military Institute, New Bloomfield, the former Wilson's Drug Store and the former Ron's Hobbycraft, both of Carlisle. She retired from the Carlisle Day Care Center.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Sunday School, Carlisle. She was also a member of AARP. She was a skilled seamstress, avid reader and Civil War history buff.
She is survived by a son, Arthur L. Frownfelter of Bradford; three daughters, Iris F. Bowers and Sharon F. Saphore, both of Carlisle, and Bonnie L. Klink of Nevada, Ohio; a half-brother, Merle Sheaffer; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her foster father, Samuel H. "Daddy" Fenical; a brother, John Sheaffer; five sisters, Leona Crum, Viola, Bertha, Louisa and Mary Sheaffer; and one grandson, Mark E. Bowers.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Eric J. Shafer and the Rev. Sharonn D. Halderman officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday in the church.
