Raymond Lee Hopple, 83, of Mechanicsburg, entered into his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Manor Care in Carlisle.
He was a 62 year member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church; American Legion Post 109 of Mechanicsburg; CPCA Square Dance Callers Association; and a life member of VFW Post 6771 of Dillsburg. Mr. Hopple served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed Dominoes, pitching horseshoes, bowling, camping, square dancing and especially spending time with the family.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Louetta (Goshorn) Hopple, whom he married on Mar. 28, 1953 and shared more than 60 years of marriage; his children, Ray (Mary) Hopple of York, Barry (Mandy) Hopple of Mechanicsburg and Denise Knisley (Carl) of Dillsburg; six grandchildren, Justin Knisley of Franklintown, Kristan (Trevor) Culver of Dillsburg, Lance Corporal Kalin Knisley of Beauford, SC, Brittney (Mike) Davis of Winterville, GA, Heather (Vic) Hopple of Port Charlotte, FL, and Lee Hopple of Mechanicsburg; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Lucas Culver of Dillsburg and Jacob Hopple of Port Charlotte, FL; one brother Ed (Dot) Hopple of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Min Noel of Carlisle; one foster daughter, Nancy Swailes of FL and her children; 32 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Ben and John; two sisters, Edith Miller and Ruth Myers; and one great-grandson, Gage Davis.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 26, 11 a.m., at the Church of God, 602 McLand Dr., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Louetta Hopple Fund, Members 1st Federal Credit Union, 3512 Market St., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
