Richard Morrison Obituary

Richard F. "Dick" "Big Mo" Morrison, 73, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Freeman "Cap" Sr. and Marilla Boles Morrison.

Richard was an U.S. Air Force veteran of both the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, and retired as a staff sergeant.

A retired employee of the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot, he also worked for the Carlisle Barracks Commissary.

He was a former Boiling Springs Cub Scoutmaster, a life member of VFW Post No. 7343, the Air Force Sergeants Association and American Legion Post No. 674.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bernadine "Bernie" McMahon Morrison; five sons, Richard Bruce (and his wife, Debbie) of Apache Junction, Ariz., Jimmy Dale, John R. (and his companion, Mary Jane) and David Brian (and his wife, Kathy), all of Mt. Holly Springs, and Steven E. (and his wife, Layne) of Gardners; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Freeman Jr. (and his wife, Marilee) of Alliance, Ohio; and a sister, Donna (and her husband, Jim) Mock of Canton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon K., who died in July of 1963.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, in the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Mt Holly Springs Citizens Fire Co., 100 Chestnut St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 or to Yellow Breeches EMS, P.O. Box 106, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
