1978 - 2018

Sarah Elaine Asbury, 39, of 5th St., Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at her home. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Dennis McKinley, Pastor Emeritus, Landmark Baptist Church will officiate. Sarah Elaine was born in Carlsbad on August 9, 1978 to Gary and Rhonda (Hardesty) Hammond. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in May 1996 and was able to take a graduation trip to Germany for 6 weeks. She visited several countries on her trip and traveled from mountains to forests to beaches. Sarah later enrolled at NMSU and earned a Master's Degree in 2009. Her accomplished resume helped her obtain employment at the local ISD office and later in the Secretary of State Division in Santa Fe. However, Sarah's biggest triumphs will always be her five wonderful children; four precious sons and her cherished daughter.
Loved ones who preceded Sarah in eternity include her father Gary Hammond; her beloved sister Annie Mae, her loving grandparents, L.T. and Mary Jo Hardesty and Albert and Addlene Hammond.

Survivors who will always mourn the loss of Sarah from this Earth are her children, Ty Hammett of Aurora, Colorado, Luther Thomas "Luke" Hammett of Albuquerque and Masun Hardesty, Miley Asbury, and Trustin Asbury who remain at home in Carlsbad with their loving father Josh Asbury; her mother, Rhonda Hardesty and stepfather, Fontaine Garrett and her brothers, Michael Hammond and Albert "Nolie" Hammond, all of Carlsbad.
