Kathleen Eberle Obituary

Kathleen Joyce Eberle, 87, passed away Jan. 22,2022 at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, Neb.

Kathleen was born Jan. 17,1935 in Berwyn to Alfred Vern and Willa Mae (Rapp) Peltzer. The Peltzers lived on the Rapp family homestead northeast of Berwyn until 1941 then moved to a farm southeast of Broken Bow.

Kathleen attended Spencer Park and King country schools before graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1952. She was an active member of the Steamrollers 4-H Club during high school. Kathleen participated in numerous Hereford shows and cattle judging competitions.

Kathleen attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney until 1954 where she earned her teaching certificate. She began teaching Kindergarten in Broken Bow in 1954. Kathleen married Gaylord (Tom) Eberle in December of 1954. Kathleen became a full-time homemaker in 1956. To this union four children - Karen, James, Joe and Kristi - were born.

In 1970, the Eberles became partners in the Gateway Motel. Kathleen managed this business until 2010. After several years of retirement, she spent the last six years living at Off Broadway Assisted Living Center in Broken Bow. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, working on the family genealogy, watching sports and a good game of bridge with her friends.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all very much. She liked following all their activities, sports, 4-H, birthdays and family holidays. She was involved in Eastern Star, Custer County Tourism Council and JMMMC Bridge Marathon Group.

Kathleen was a member of Zeta Chi Alpha Sorority in college and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She was very proud to have received the Good Neighbor Citation from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben in 2011 and treasured being recognized as an owner of Peltzer Farms when they were awarded the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award for 100 years of continuous ownership.

Survivors include daughter Karen (Jeff) Evans of Broken Bow, son James (Kathy) Eberle of Broken Bow, son Joe (Renee) Eberle of Fredericksburg, Texas and daughter Kristi (Tim) Mason of Anselmo; grandchildren Stefanie Evans, Sara (Matt) Baird, Wade (Kelly) McVey, Ben (Liz) Eberle, Tyler ( Jessica ) Eberle, Jeff Eberle, Dustin (Alisha) Eberle, Troy (Jamie) Eberle, Katrina (Kyle) Charron, Logan (Katie) Mason and Kaitlyn Mason; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Willa Peltzer; brother Lyle Peltzer; and great-grandson Kellen Charron.
