Ava Bright Obituary

Ava Grace Bright, 18, of North Garden, Virginia, passed away in a tragic accident on April 30, 2025. Born on June 5, 2006, she was the beloved daughter of Cari Atwell and Donnell Bright. Family and friends were the cornerstones of Ava's life. In addition to her parents, Ava is survived by her sister, Evangeline Morris and her father, Brian Morris, brother, Donaven Bright Keyes, stepfather, John Michie, grandparents, Greg and Lisa Bugg, Larry and April Atwell, and Bonnie-Brenda Bright, aunts, Treeousha Banks and Teresa Bright, uncles, Derrick Bright, Nelson Bright and Jonathan Atwell and his son and special cousin to Ava, Brantley Atwell and his mother, Ashley Via. Ava had countless great aunts and uncles, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Ava attended Charlottesville and Albemarle schools and has, over the years, kept many special friends close to her heart. Ava never met a stranger; she made everyone feel special. She loved spending time by the river, riding her four-wheeler, and, above all, she loved making lasting memories with her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cherished golden retriever, Gracie. Ava will be remembered for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and loving heart. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Special thanks go out to Angel Marrs and the caring women of Cherry Avenue Christian Church. Donations may be made in Ava's memory to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, 3355 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901. You can sign the guestbook online at www.hillandwood.com and there will be a memorial gathering for anyone wishing to pay their respects on Thursday, May 8, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, at Cherry Avenue Christian Church, 1720 Cherry Avenue, Charlottesville, VA.

Ava had just started to work with us at Crossroad Store. She was the sweetest young lady and her smile was infectious. She lit up the room with her smile when she walked in. She was always happy at work and loved talking to her customers and everybody loved her. All of us are honored that we got to meet Miss Ava. She was truly one of a kind. We just wish she was able to stay longer. Our hearts go out to her family. Please know we are praying for you. Miss Ava, rest in peace sweet babygirl. We love you and miss you.
