George Douglas Obituary

George Franklin Douglas, Jr departed this life peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. He was born August 23, 1951 in Charlottesville, VA to the late George Douglas, Sr and Louise Dickerson Douglas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Douglas. He joined Zion Union Baptist Church at an early age. He was a former Trustee, a member of the Adult and Men's choirs, and the Men's Fellowship. He attended Lane High School. He worked for thirty years at Ivy Industries and retired from the Boar's Head Sport Club in 2015. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife (the love of his life) Corlis Carter Douglas for over fifty-two years; his devoted son, Spencer Carter Douglas and loving daughter-in-law, April Hutchinson Douglas; twin grandsons, Reid Hutchinson Douglas and Grey Carter Douglas, all of Charlottesville, VA; brother-in-laws, Willis Carter, Jr and Roy "Rinnie" Carter of Charlottesville, VA; nephews, Kevin Carter (Dorothy) of Allison Park, PA, Kendall Carter (Tanja) of Keswick, VA, and Keith Carter (Kim) of Charlottesville, VA, and a host of cousins and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Washington Commanders and UVA football and basketball, gardening, R&B music, and we will miss his delicious Sunday dinners. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00am at Zion Union Baptist Church, 1015 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, VA with Bishop George Gohanna officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Monticello Memory Gardens. Hill and Wood Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
