CHARLES JOURDAN Obituary

Charles E. Jourdan, 67, of Hinckley, Ill., passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at home.
Born March 20, 1941, in Willow Hill, he was the son of Guy and Mary Lois (Jones) Jourdan. Charles was united in marriage to LaDonna Cook on April 22, 1961, in Olney; they spent the next 46 happy years together.
He enjoyed a distinguished career with Caterpillar Inc. for 42 years and traveled to five continents during his tenure with the company. Charles was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Maple Park and was a 40-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed many hobbies, including golfing, fishing, restoring cars, traveling and auto racing. Charles was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by both family and friends.
Charles' family would like to extend a special thank-you to Vitas Hospice, Father Joachim B. Tyrtania and Sharon Swander.
He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Jourdan of Hinckley; five children, Jeffrey (Wendy) Jourdan of Waukesha, Wis., Bradley (Lauren) Jourdan and Gregory (Erin) Jourdan, both of Hinckley, Charles Mark Jourdan of Sandwich and Julie (Michael) Savitski of Hinckley; 11 grandchildren, Amy, Jerry and Jacob Jourdan, Justin and Marissa Jourdan, Maya and Emma Jourdan, Aidan and Tyler Savitski and Ben and Anna Jourdan; his mother, Mary Lois Jourdan of Robinson; a sister, Jeannette (Leonard) Knoblett of Palatine; nine nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Jim Cook of Charleston; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Jourdan; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a nephew.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Jourdan will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 123 S. Countyline Road in Maple Park, with Father Joachim B. Tyrtania officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Maple Park. Friends may visit from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St. in Hinckley.
Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 123 S. Countyline Road, Maple Park, IL 60151, or to Vitas Hospice, 105 Marquette St., Suite A, LaSalle, IL 61301.

We are so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. We have lived directly across from the Jourdan's for the last 12+ years in Timbercreek prior to them moving and could not have had a better neighbor. Charlie was always kind to my family and very friendly discussing our common rain flowage issues. He was well respected and we'll miss his return visits. Our sincerest sympathy...
