John Martin Prpich

Born: Nov. 11, 1936

Died: Jan. 5, 2015

John Martin Prpich, 78, of Wildwood, IL passed peacefully with his loving wife and daughter at his side. A talented music therapist, Erica Collins was in attendance that gave grace and peace to his passing in his loving daughter's home in Kankakee, IL on Jan. 5, 2015.

We have deep gratitude for Heartland Hospice team for their loving support. Also a special thank you to the staff at Manor Care of Kankakee who became a second family.

John was born in DeKalb, IL on Nov. 11, 1936, to Mary and Frank Prpich both from Croatia. John attended Northern Illinois University where he met his wife of 49 years. Their recent fun and loving song for each other was, "Hey Good Looking... What You Got Cooking" He was very much in love with his wife to his end.

John's 42 year insurance sales career was with American Family Insurance. He was loved in his community, his many loyal friends and customers will miss him. John and Ruth are proud Lifetime members of American Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans. He served as V.P. and Building Director for many years. John enjoyed being in the Adult orchestra playing the standup bass. His other pride was starting the fish fry that helped raise funds for younger members to travel and perform in the USA, Canada & Croatia. John, Ruth & family have many wonderful memories of the Croatian Hall, especially the summer picnics. Many friendships developed into extended family.

John is survived by wife, Ruth; and children, Catherine with husband Dr. Jordan Goodman; first son, Edward and wife, Laurie their children, Zak & Karissa; second son, James & wife, Christina Prpich. As wells as nieces and nephews in Peoria IL, CA. and South America.

He was preceded by his parents; and two brothers, George and Mike Prpich.

John enlisted in the Marines following his two older brothers. His two son's proudly severed our country in the Army and Air Force. John has a proud military family.

Memorial service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on June 5, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.
