Michael Duckett

Duckett, Michael Edward 67, a longtime Chicago Heights resident, passed away on July 31 after a seven-and-one-half year battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Elaine (nee Woods); stepfather, Henry Diehl; devoted children, Michael Joseph Duckett, Suzanne Elizabeth (Sam) Kimmerly, John Paul Duckett, Kimberly Ann Sanchez; loving sister, Rosalyn Arvidson; grandsons, Aaron John Kimmerly, Michael and David Duckett, and Cheyenne Sanchez; as well as family and many friends. Preceded in death by parents, Charles Duckett and Dorothy (nee Netter) Diehl. Michael was a gifted musician and a competitive swimmer in both High School and College. He participated in many of his children's activities, such as coaching their baseball teams as well as an active member of the Marian Catholic Band Parents between 1993-2001; serving as president for two years and a member of the Pit Crew for eight years. He was the owner of Michael's Classic Limousine. He met his loving wife Kathy of nearly thirty eight years at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder for many years. Their life together began on November 22, 1975. As a family, they spent many summers camping in Michigan fishing, boating and water skiing. Mike wore a bracelet with the words "Courage, Guidance, Strength" and he made sure to share the meaning of those words with others he encountered at chemotherapy treatments and anyone struggling with this disease.
