Rita Lepscier Obituary

Lepscier, Rita M. (nee Rick) Age 88, passed away on August 16th, after a long illness. Rita married the late John Lepscier in 1950 and they enjoyed 62 full and loving years together. She is the beloved mother of John Lepscier, Jr., Rick Lepscier, Steven (Lynn) Lepscier, Joseph Lepscier, Joan (Michael) Jesse, Janice (David) Zweifel and the late Pamela Lepscier; dearest grandmother of Vanessa, Elizabeth, Nicole, Shannon, Michael, Ryan, Christine, Zach, Adam and Jessica; great-grandmother of many; and fond sister of Edna Schmidt and the late Gladys Rick and Catherine Rick. Rita was very civic minded and was highly active in her community while raising her family, including leading boy scout and girl scout troops, heading the PTA, being active in the rotary club, supporting the Oak Forest HS booster programs and serving on dozens of election committees to name just a few. Rita worked for the City of Oak Forest during the 70's and 80's as the Mayor's Secretary serving primarily under Mayor James Jesk and later Mayor James Richmond. Rita and her late husband John shared the same passion for contract bridge. She was a proud member of the ACBL earning life master status in 1991. Much of their leisure time was spent competing in both local and national tournaments, several times a week for most of their marriage. They loved to discuss strategy and played competitively well into their 80's. Rita was quite a formidable opponent and was known by many as being a very sharp, articulate, quick-witted woman with an uncanny memory. While her work and activities kept her very busy, her true passion was her family. She was a devoted mother and very proud grandma who loved doting on her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Friday, August 22nd, 9:15 a.m. from the McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forest to St. Damian Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. For information: 708-687-2990.

I am so sorry to read of Ritas death. She and John were friends of my husband and myself for years. John and Sidney attended Loyola together.
due to the distance we lived from one another we were unable to visit often. The last time was our fiftieth aniversary. I know the family will miss her and she will be watching over you. Jeanne Jongleux

I will miss Rita. She welcomed me into her family when I married Joan. There was nothing Rita would not do for her family. A very intelligent and always made time for fun. She knew how to live life. You couldn't help but learn from her and I always enjoyed being in her company. Rest in peace dear Rita.
