Marion W. "Doc" Hobbs
Oct. 9, 1927 - Aug. 21, 2011

Marion W. Hobbs (Doc) returned to his maker on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011. Marion was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas. His family moved to Lubbock and he graduated from Lubbock High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He lived his adult life in Farmington, where he owned a radio and television repair business. He was a talented mechanic and inventor. In 1962, he invented one of the first ink jet printers.
He was interested in astronomy and photography. He was a fine artist and painted bright, colorful landscapes of Farmington in its autumn beauty.
He was a devoted bike rider, a good neighbor, and was known to give out the most candy at Halloween. He found his true home in Farmington and lived there 59 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Jewel Sims Hobbs; father, Marion Wilson Hobbs; and sister, Betty Hester.
Family survivors include sisters, Mary Allen of Georgetown, Texas, and Julia Grisham of Academy, Texas; brothers, Eldon Hobbs of Georgetown, Texas, Gerry Hobbs of Lubbock, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
We will miss him.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 48th & Salem in Lubbock.
For the last six months, Marion lived in the Wesleyan at Scenic in Georgetown. The family suggests memorials be sent to Wesleyan Homes; Senior Citizens Center/Meals on Wheels, 109 E. La Plata St., Farmington, NM 84701, or your favorite charity.
