Steven Abel Chavez, 58, of Flora Vista, reached his eternal home in heaven on Friday, June 29, 2012.
Steve was born March 13, 1954, in Ignacio, Colo. He proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army and lived in the Farmington area for the remainder of his life. Steve loved music, his old, beat up, Ford pick-up truck and a heated, political discussion. He could frequently be found working in the yard wearing shorts and steel-toed boots.
Steve was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who loved truly and was truly loved.
Steve has been reunited with his son, Jeremy, in the healing and loving hands of God.
""There's coming a day when all sorrow and pain will cease. God's children who suffer will finally end in peace.""
He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Chavez; his children, Isaiah and Delayne, Josh and Tenesha, Sarah (Doodle Bug) and T.J., Joleen and Paul, Clayton and Candy, Jennifer and Buddy, and Margaret; and his grandchildren Evelynn, Cierra, Christoval, Elizabeth, Little Paul, Shania, and Ethan.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 6, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 East Main St. in Farmington with VFW Post #2182 of Farmington performing full military honors and also officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests financial donations to help pay for funeral costs which can be made at ucaring.com (search Steven Chavez).
