Terry Spivey Obituary

Terry Spivey
March 11, 1921 - Jan. 9, 2010
Terry Spivey joyously redeemed his free ticket to heaven when he passed from his earthly body into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010. Born March 11, 1921, in Hansford County, Texas, to Ernest and Ollie Spivey, Terry was a giving and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He married his beloved sweetheart and beautiful "Red-Headed Lady", Jessie Evelyn Hatch, on Aug. 23, 1945. They walked together through 64 years of marriage, sharing so much life, love, and memories with their family and friends.
Terry was a proud veteran of World War II, flying more than 50 missions as a B-24 pilot in the Pacific Theater, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He owned Terry's Outboard in Farmington, from 1961 until 1983, and his grandkids loved to boat and fish with him.
To all who knew him Terry was, first and foremost, a faithful follower of Jesus, who had a heart to see others come to a saving knowledge of the Lord. Both friends and strangers were recipients of a fluorescent pink "Free Ticket To Heaven", which he always carried with him to give to anyone with whom he came in contact. Terry may have an untold number of redeemed souls for his inheritance in heaven because of his little pink tickets that shared the Gospel plan of salvation through Christ!
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Steve Sanders Spivey; sister, Ernestine; and by his brother, Tom.
He is survived by his wife Jessie; four children, Terry Elaine Fuller (Doug) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Dixie Lee Gray (Mike) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jana Louise Caranta (John) of Farmington, Scott Dalton Spivey (Donna) of Owasso, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at First Baptist Church of Farmington, 121 N. Auburn Ave.
Private family interment will be at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St., in Farmington.
The family wishes to thank Basin Home Health and Hospice. Special thanks to Donya, Melissa, Sandra, Katrina and Patti, Barb, Janet and Christal for your love and support.

Terry's humorous stories will be told and retold by everyone who was in his extensive circle. We will always cherish the time we had together at the WWII reunions. I'm sorry for your loss. Mr. Terry forever lives sporting his red suit with white turtle neck in my wedding pictures from 1975. I even remember when they lived across the street from Mom in Beckland Hills during the 1960's.
I never received a pink ticket, but I'm confident I'll be seeing him again with all those who did.
