Coston Leary "C. L." Sawyer

Mr. "C. L." Coston Leary Sawyer, age 89, of 1609 Caddy Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Sawyer, a native of Camden County, NC, was the son of the late Coston Sivilis Sawyer and Emily Staples Sawyer and the husband of Dorothy Mae Williams Sawyer of the residence. Mr. Sawyer was the founder of Sawyer's House of Furniture. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, the founder and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 295, Hall Masonic Lodge No. 53 AF & AM and a member of the Sudan Shriners. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Lary Sawyer, and wife Joyce, of Southern Shores, NC; a sister, Vivian Hodges, of Lincolnton, NC; two brothers, Ambrose Sawyer and William Sawyer, both of Elizabeth City, NC; three grandchildren, Eric Sawyer, Jan Jones and Jill Stowe; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
