Marion Harris Obituary

Mr. Marion Lee Harris Sr., age 74, of 121 Dowdy's Bay Road, Grandy, N.C., died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Harris, a native of Currituck County, was the son of the late Nacy Harris and Vennie Mercer Harris, and the husband of Edna Griggs Harris of the residence. He was a retired machine operator and a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Peggy Sue Krauss of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Elizabeth L. Corbell of Grandy; two sons, Marion L. Harris Jr. and Ronnie Dean Harris, both of Grandy; a sister, Mae Waterfield of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; a brother, Ray Harris of Newport News, Va.; and six grandchildren. The memorial service will be private. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Poplar Branch Baptist Church, P.O. Box 247, Grandy, NC 27939. You may sign the online register at www.twifordfh.com. Twiford's's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, is in charge of the arrangements.
