Erika Keese Obituary

Erika Anhood Keese, 36, of Newport Beach and Rancho Palos Verdes, passed away on July 18, 2010 after a valiant battle against cancer. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter and sister who cherished her family and friends above all else. Erika was an exceptional woman. After graduating from Corona del Mar High School in 1992 and Claremont McKenna College in 1996, she pursued a successful career in management consulting and later became the president of Florence Filter Corporation, a family business. Erika inspired all who knew her, both personally and professionally, with her integrity, drive and dynamic personality. She will be remembered for her strength in character, sense of adventure and zest for life. Her passion for travel led her to explore over 50 foreign countries across 6 continents during her short lifetime. Though Erika's life was filled with many remarkable accomplishments, her happiest moment was marrying the love of her life, Gregory Keese, and her most cherished moment was becoming a mother to her darling Sofia in December 2008. Erika's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m. at Mariners Church, 5001 Newport Coast Drive, Irvine, CA 92603. Donations in memory of Erika may be sent to the Children's Discovery Garden of the South Coast Botanical Garden Foundation, 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., Palos Verdes, CA 90274.

Greg, Sofia and family. I am sorry that I couldn't make it to join in Erika's celebration of life. What I have done though is add some pics of Erika from years gone by. In fact, from nearly 10 yrs ago! May she always be remembered for the positive energy that she conveyed to all around her.

Greg, I am so sad to hear the news on Erika passing. My heart goes out to you and your family. I didn't get to know Erika that well in college, but what I do remember is that she was such a positive person and her optimism seemed to rub off on other people. My deepest condolences for your loss. My family and I will be praying for you, Sophia and your entire family.

Greg and Sofia - I am so saddened by your loss. I admire the courage you have shown during Erika's valiant battle. Erika was a role model for "never give up" even to those of us on the very perimeter of your lives. She is an inspiration to those who knew her well, and to those who only know her story. May you find strength and peace in the memories that will be shared today and those that you hold most dear in your hearts. With deepest sympathy - Karen

While growing up with Adrian, Erika seemed to always be present - taking care of the family, but never taking any of the credit. She will be missed, and my family sends their deepest regards.

We met Erika and Greg on their honeymoon and became good friends on our Mediterranean cruise. Although we are old enough to be their parents we became fast friends, we were the only conseratives on the cruise, and spent a wonderful week with them. We tried to visit Erika on a recent trip to CA but she was to ill to see us. We will never forget her, she was a very special person. We wish to express our condolences to Greg, Sofia and both their families.

THIS WAS SUCH A SHOCK THIS MORNING VERY EARLY WHEN MY DAUGHTER, LINDSAY BURNETT, WHO WAS A CLASSMATE OF ADRIAN ANHOOD, ERIKA'S BROTHER, AT HARBOR DAY SCHOOL....IT WAS SUCH A SAD THING TO WAKE UP TO FROM LINDSAY IN ATLANTA, GA. WHO HAS A LITTLE BOY SAM, SAME AGE AS SOPHIA....I SIMPLY CANNOT IMAGINE THE STRUGGLE YOU ARE FACING....OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE ALL WITH YOU.....THE BURNETT-DELAHANTY FAMILY

As I struggle with the unbelievable news of Erika passing away, I can't help but reflect on the trajedy that befell both our families. The Anhood children were practically raised with ours; went to school together, played and skiied together, vacationed together, and certaily lived their respective lives almost togethedr. I am at a loss for words that could possibly convey my feelings other than to say that thinking of Erika now I find myself thinking of Erika and Paul. The pain is surely too deep, but the memories will live for ever and ever.
