Jimmie Smith Obituary
There is no misunderstanding, when GOD calls us He is certain and we all must answer His call. We often picture death as ending; let us all however view this as a new beginning. On September 13, 2013 Jimmie L. Smith a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, received his call.
Jimmie L. Smith was born on February 3, 1937 in Forest Home, Alabama to the late Conrad Smith and Cassie Robinson. After nearly 31 years of employment he retired from the Daimler Chrysler Corporation.
He was preceded in death by parents, Conrad and Cassie, his beloved and faithful wife, Jean and special nephew, Rodney Haynes.
Left to cherish his memories, his devoted children, Dannie Scullock-Smith of Montgomery, Ala., Gregory (Michelle) Smith, Jerome Smith, Darlene (Clarence) Gray, Cheryl Jackson, Cassandra Smith, Brandon McKenzie, all of Akron, Ohio and DaNan (John) Carter of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Jean Jenkins of Akron, Ohio, Sadie (Nathaniel) Mahand of Greenville, Ala., and Dorothy Mahan of Forest Home, Ala.; brothers, Charlie Smith and Clemon Smith of Montgomery, Ala., Conrad (Fannie) Smith of Greenville, Ala., and William (Barbara) Smith of Georgiana, Ala.; 31 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; special uncle, Freddie Jordan; best friend, Doug Edmondson, and dedicated friend, Joanne Simmons. There is also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors that will cherish his memories.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21st, 2013 at 12 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the Church of God Militant Pillar and Ground of Truth, 200 Cole Ave., Akron, Elder Henry Brunson officiating. Procession will form at 10 a.m. at 611 Whitney Ave., Akron, OH 44306.

I love you papa and miss you oh so much! The family has not been the same since you been gone but I know your watching and praying over each and every last one of us!!! You was that puzzle piece that held us together!!! It´s hard sometimes going on Whitney and not seeing you cut grass fry fish, or just in the yard singing your church music. I love you!!!

To Jimmie's Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Jimmie's passing, although, I am also elated to know he is with his Lord Jesus. I knew Jimmie for many years as I worked for a physician he saw and we became fast friends. Never did I ever see a brighter light for the Lord than Jimmie! May God comfort you at this difficult time with the knowledge that Jimmie is happy, completely healed and one day you will see him again!
