Phil Eugene Bendik
October 7, 1943 – February 21, 2016
Sue Anne Bendik (Newell)
June 23, 1948 – June 10, 2017
Phil and Sue were married for 46 years. They are survived by their 3 children, Phil (Sarah), Stacy (JJ) and Josh (Mary). They were also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Camden, Hailey, Alexandra, Lauren, Emma, Jack, Maka, Bo and Trevor. Phil is also survived by sisters, Renae Hazel, Jean Sullivan and Cindy Schafer; brothers, Mark Bendik and Danny Bendik. Sue is also survived by her brother, Randy Newell. She was predeceased by her brother, Bob Newell; and brother, Roger Newell.
Phil was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He worked 28 years for the Torrance Police Department. He retired in 1996.
Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed for 26 years with the Torrance Unified School District. She spent 14 of those years working at West High School.
Phil and Sue enjoyed their life together. A few great memories include their bowling leagues, the years at Tordondo Little League, their many road trips to Arizona and spending time with their grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1:00pm. Please join us in the chapel at Valor Christian Academy, 525 Earle Lane, Redondo Beach, CA 90278. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

So sorry for your loss, may they rest in peace. I've told this story a million times about your dad, I was always leery of asking him a question. If you were to ask him what time it was, he'd tell you how to build a clock. He loved to talk. He was a great guy.

I never met Phil but had many moments with Sue while our 3 kids were at West High. She always had a warm smile & warm greeting on the phone . And one knew her sincerity was heartfelt!! ❤❤
I can only imagine the lost you all feel. Just know that they are now with you every minute of every day!!
