Daniel Hegarty Obituary

Daniel Michael Hegarty, 73, of Casper, WY, passed safely into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 15, 2016. Dan was born January 6, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Daniel and Edythe Hegarty. He graduated from Cooper Union in NYC before moving to Boulder, where he met his wife of 27 years, Mary June Ostergaard. He held several jobs before starting his own computer software business, Tekton Software. During that time he also built the family house, raised 2 children, and was an elder at The Little Church in the Pines, Salina, CO. Later in life, Dan and Mary June became foster parents and adopted 2 more children. After Mary June passed away in 1996, he continued valiantly as a single parent and also taught Sunday School at Calvary Bible Church, Boulder, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by a sister, a son, 3 daughters, their spouses, and 10 grandchildren (and 1 on the way). Services will be held at Calvary Bible Church, Boulder, CO, at 2PM on Thursday, August 25th.

Hey dad was thinking about making soap based off of your favorite scents-cherry pipe tobacco and black Folgers. Would you use it? Send a cat my way or something if yes. Thanks! Love you! PS I'm still torturing people with your terrible jokes! Oh and ask Mom for some gardening tips? Imma start one soon. Thanks again!

Hi Daddy! I miss you! I bet you're too happy to miss me though. I think about you every day. I still have the autographed poster of you on my wall. Maybe I'll win the daddy's girl of the year award someday...

When I was scared my daddy drove all night from one state to the other just to hold my hand for a while and then turned around and went back I miss him so much and wish my Ariel could have met her grandparents!

Well I suppose it's been about a year now since Dad went to go party with Jesus and mommy and the angels, and I can definitely say it is really boring and humorless world without him! And then I see all the beautiful blessings that Dad prayed into my life, including the goofy husband that he and I spent years praying for now reality in my life! Thanks Dad! Don't forget me while you're partying up there! I'll see you soon! Love you!

I Remember having a conversation with my dad about the military when I was 16 ( he had been honorably discharged from the Army in the late 60s due to a contraction of pneumonia shortly after boot camp). I remember us discussing that if he had still been in the military that I would have been born in Germany. About 10 minutes of silence went by and then he said," honey?""yes, dad?" I responded," I forgot you were adopted!"

Much belated sympathy. Dan and his wife Mary were inspirational to those who knew them. Dan and Debbie and Mike all helped our company grow. We are sorry to see Dan pass so young. The whole family has the sympathy of staff of The Booth Company.

My dear Uncle Dan,
There is a hole in my heart since you left us, and it is so hard knowing that it won't be filled until I join you in heaven with our other loved ones. You are so loved and missed by us all; more than can ever be expressed in mere words. Your laugh, your mischievous ways, your loyalty and your faith were so needed in this world, and there is such a void without them. Your friendship and love have always been so important to me! I will try my hardest to be as good of a disciple of Christ as you were. I love and miss you with all my heart! Love from your niece and friend for eternity, Melody. xoxoxoxo
