Scott Mason Obituary

Scott Mason, loving caring son, partner, father, brother, uncle and friend. Scott had the unique ability to see what could be, and then design and build a home that fit perfectly in its place, in harmony with the land he so loved. He was a Master carpenter with a creative touch, and a licensed contractor who specialized in building custom homes. An early resident of Lyons, he was an eager advocate of maintaining the small town character and natural beauty by investing in developable land, to preserve integrity and ecology with low density development. Turner Reed and 1st Ave are two of his larger projects. He had the foresight to specifically obtain 1st Ave with its rock quarry, to incorporate the native rock in his houses. Later, the stone harvested has been used in various walk ways and gardens throughout Lyons. More of his individual homes in the area are in Lyons Park Estates and on 2nd Ave. He had great love for history, and had restored historic structures all across Colorado. He was an outdoorsman who was content being one with the land, which reflected upon his life and gentle nature. He is predeceased by his mother Phyllis Hagberg Mason. He is much loved and missed by his father Irvin Mason, friend and love of his life, Laurel McKown, son and best friend Wesley, brother Eric, sister Lark and 7 nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends.
