Kathleen Byble Obituary

Kathleen E. "Koo" Koval Byble, 74, of Scottdale, died early Monday morning, Feb. 22, 2010, in Scottdale Manor Rehabilitation Center, East Huntingdon Township. She was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late John "Whitey" Koval and Catherine Ann Papier Koval, who died Jan. 14, 1987 and April 27, 2000, respectively. Koo was a retired dietitian for the former West View Nursing Home, Scottdale, with 15 years of service, and also Jeannette Hospital and Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant, dietary departments. Koo was a devout Catholic and longtime, faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale. She was known for her love of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Koo leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughters, Kathleen M. "Cookie" Jaworski and her husband, Alvin, of Scottdale, and Carla G. Cox and her husband, Edwin, of Scottdale; her two grandchildren, Gregory A. Jaworski and his wife, Alanna, of Washington, D.C., and Leah M. Firestone and her husband, Jason, of Scottdale; her two great-grandchildren, Jason Michael Firestone Jr. and Alexander Matthew Firestone, both of Scottdale; and her two sisters, Sister Barbara Mary Koval, SC, of Greensburg, and Evelyn Farris and her husband, Richard, of Scottdale. In addition to her parents, Koo was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary, in infancy; and a brother, Richard J. Koval (12-13-06). Koo's family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Parting prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Scottdale, with her pastor, the Rev. E. George Saletrik, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Everson. St. John Ministry of Consolation will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Koo's family would like to thank the staff of Scottdale Manor Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and professionalism shown to Koo and her family while she was a resident.
