Richard Swank Obituary

Richard A. "Rick" Swank Sr., 50, of Mt. Pleasant, Bullskin Township, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was born May 6, 1956, in Connellsville, a son of Margaret "Peggy" Earnesty Swank, of Wooddale, and the late Jack Swank Sr. Rick was a graduate of Connellsville High School, class of 1974. He was formerly employed by the Ritenour Lumber Co. and he also worked at Union Apparel in Norvelt. He was a member of the Assunta Club and a social member of the Fireman's Club, both of Mt. Pleasant. He attended the Paradise United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joyce L. Smitley Swank; one son, Richard Swank Jr., and one daughter, Nicole Swank, both at home; two brothers, Jack Swank Jr., of Scottdale, and his wife, Debbie, of Connellsville, and Brian Swank, of Wooddale; two sisters, Jackie Zubic and her husband, Ron, of Brownsville, and Andrea Swank, of Connellsville; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, where services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Doug Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlick Cemetery.
