Joan Ambra Obituary

Joan Ambra RHINEBECK-Joan Ambra, 89, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, passed away on Monday, April 6th, 2015 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born on Aug. 6th, 1925, in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Sadlon) Ambra. Many years prior to her retirement, Joan worked in retail for Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and A & S. She was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook and a former communicant of Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck. Joan was also an active volunteer at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck. She is survived by two nieces; June Sternfield and her husband Eric of Davie, Fla., and Victoria Garabedian and her husband Alex of Miami, Fla., a nephew; Dennis Lakatos of Miami, Fla., and several great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, N.Y. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Queens. Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s memory to The Baptist Home, 46 Brookmeade Dr., Rhinebeck, N.Y. 12583.
