Olive Blake Obituary

Olive A. Blake HURLEY- Olive A. Blake, 91, of Lucas Ave Extension, Hurley, died Thursday evening, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Benedictine Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Olive was born in Boston, Mass. on Sept. 24, 1921, a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Denhan) Snell. Olive was employed for many years as a cosmetologist with Flah's in the Kingston Plaza. She is survived by one granddaughter, Catherine A. ‘Cat' Quick of Kingston; one grandson, Walter G. Blake and his wife Dia, of Fallon, Nev.; one sister Jean Niebuhr of Conn.; and one brother, George Snell of Mass. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Robert and Joseph Quick, both of Kingston, and A.J. and Erin Blake, both of Fallon, Nev. Olive is predeceased by her son, Robert L. ‘Bob' Blake and wife Geraldine ‘Geri', both died July 4, 2010. The memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (today), Nov. 17th, 2012, at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, N.Y., the Rev. Carl D. Johnson of the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Mary, Port Ewen, N.Y. will officiate. A Time of Remembrance will follow the service from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation held at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston. Olive's cremains will be entombed at Massachusetts National Cemetery next to her husband, U.S. Army veteran Walter E. Blake, who died June 29, 1994. I worked with Olive in Flah's in the early 80's. She was a very gracious, classy lady. She will be missed.
