Barbara E. Nutting

Barbara E. Nutting Hadley Barbara E. Nutting, 85, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her family, after a brief illness and complications from surgery. Born at home on January 21, 1930, she was the oldest of six children born to the late Urles and Evelyn King. Her family moved to Ballston Spa in December of 1942 where she attended Ballston Spa High School. Barbara met the love of her life, Warren P. Nutting, and they were married on August 20, 1950 while he was serving in the US Navy. Following Warren's discharge from the Navy, they settled in the Saratoga Springs area. They eventually purchased Warren's family home on Middleline Road, in the Town of Milton, and then moved to Rock City Falls where they raised their four children. In 1986, they moved to Edinburg, where they opened and operated The Country Store on Sacandaga Lake for five years. Following their sale of the store, they settled down on South Shore Road in the Town of Day where they lived on the lake enjoying the water, beautiful scenery and entertaining family and friends. Barbara was a member of the Milton Eagles Fire Department Auxiliary for several years. She was a member of the Ballston Bees Craft Club for over 30 years. She and Warren enjoyed traveling and visited all fifty of the states in the US. She enjoyed reading and cooking, but her favorite thing to do was make quilts. She enjoyed making those special quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as for a few special friends. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Orrin Sonny King; her grandsons, Jason M. Nutting and Scott E. Smallwood. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Warren; her children, Deborah Flibotte (Ray) of Raymond NH, Cynthia Ochs (Greg) of Escondido, CA, Steven Nutting (Katy) of Saratoga Springs, and Melissa Wing (Andrew) of Nantucket, MA; sisters, Geraldine Picard, Veronica Stevens and Gloria Zullo; brother, Larry King; eight grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to the charity of your choice.
