Charlotte Petersen Obituary

Charlotte Petersen went to be with the LORD on October 28, 2021. Mrs. Petersen was born on May 22, 1927 in the Town of Johnstown to Ruth & Ira Putman. She was united in marriage to Harry Petersen on August 16, 1945 who passed away on October 21, 1993. Mrs. Petersen was a graduate of Johnstown High School and received certification from the Extension Division of Fulton Montgomery Community College. She retired after 33 years of service, assisting in the operating room at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, New York. Charlotte was a member of the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church, then Christ Lutheran, now Grace Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and also served on the church council as President, various committees and made quilts for Lutheran Worldwide Relief that went to Africa. Charlotte was a pioneer in Fulton County in 1957 to start Home Demonstration connected with Cornell Extension for the Central NY Advisory Committee. This lead to her leadership in the 4H clubs to teach girls home economic skills. As all her family and friends can attest to, Charlotte shared her talents of knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking & baking. Her community involvement continued to be a focal part of her retired life as a member of the Shirley Luck Senior Center. Charlotte served as President of the 55 plus club. She enjoyed planning and participating in all the travel adventures. Mrs. Petersen is survived by her son, Dave Petersen of Johnstown, and daughter, Barbara of Silverthorne, Colorado. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Tom Petersen (Peyton), Jennifer Jette (Kevin) and Jeff Petersen (McKenzie). Mrs Petersen called her seven beautiful great grandchildren her cherubs: Carter, Amelia, Grayson, Collins, Rylan, Harper & Charli. A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1 W Montgomery St, Johnstown NY on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 1030 followed by reception in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, it was Charlotte's wish to make contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, Samaritan's Purse or a charity of your choice. The funeral home asks everyone attending to be mindful of CDC guidelines and masks will be available. Of course it is our wish and duty to the family of Mrs. Petersen to ensure all are welcome. Simply put, there is a high rate of positive Delta variant tests. Nearly 50% infected. It is our moral and professional obligation to make a safe and sacred service, no matter the public gathering spot, to ensure those who may have conditions, but want to attend, might be at risk of a difficult virus pandemic in size.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Charlotte's family. She was a wonderful lady and I always enjoyed her company when I was home from the USAF attending church. She would always update me on her daughter's activities in the AF. She was also so good to my mother in her last days. I feel forever indebted. May she rest in Peace. Blessings and strength to her family
