Daniel Burke Obituary

Daniel Christopher Burke passed away on July 13th, 2021, after a year-long battle with glioblastoma. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Dan was born on April 15, 1978, and grew up in Schenectady, New York. It was there that he met his future wife, Amanda, at Oneida Middle School. Dan and Amanda attended the senior prom together and graduated from Schenectady High School in 1995. Dan graduated from Boston College in 1999 with a Bachelor's in philosophy and obtained his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2002. The friends he made at Boston College and NYU became his dearest life-long friends. After he worked at several law firms in New York City he moved to Boston in 2006 and became in-house counsel at State Street Bank & Trust Company in 2007. Dan and Amanda were married in 2007 and lived in Boston until 2013, when they moved to Wellesley with their son, Quinn, and daughter, Hadley. Their daughter Ellery was born in Wellesley soon after. More than anything in life, Dan loved being a father and caring for his family. He loved attending school and sporting events for his kids and was always ready to play catch or kick a ball in the yard. He demonstrated endless patience while playing tennis with Amanda and looked forward to teaching his kids to golf. In addition to his day job as a financial services lawyer, Dan took great pleasure in business endeavors with some of his closest friends. He loved collaborating with Bill Kerrigan on business strategies for their plumbing company in Portland, Oregon. He was also an avid volunteer and supporter of the Wellesley community. He enjoyed lifting the heaviest boxes at the Wellesley Food Pantry and his time representing Schofield Elementary School on the School Redistricting Committee. He was also an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church. In addition to his wife, Amanda (Mitchell) and children, Dan is survived by his parents, Mary (Pallotta) and Walter Burke of Framingham, Massachusetts, his sister Laura Burke, her husband Michael Brady, and their daughter Berkeley, of Norwood, Massachusetts, and his mother- and father-in-law, Elizabeth Dunn and Robert Mitchell of Schenectady, New York. He also leaves behind the many wonderful friends and extended family who provided tremendous love and support before and during his illness, and for whom his family will be forever grateful. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, at Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home in Wellesley, and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, to be followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dan can be made to the Wellesley Food Pantry, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02481 or https://wellesleyfoodpantry.org

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the gift of watching Daniel grow up during my summers in upstate New York. Such a caring, wonderful guy.
