Janette Rapp Obituary

Janette M. Rapp (née Delamater), 66, of Acworth, GA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went home to glory and into the joy of her Lord Jesus the evening of January 16, 2021 after a series of brief illnesses. She was born in Schenectady, NY, where she graduated from Draper High School in 1972 and married her husband Dennis in 1977. While her heart was to be a stay-at-home mom, she selflessly worked at various administrative jobs over the years to help with family expenses and, most importantly to her, provide a Christian school education for her children. Janette was full of courage and kindness, loved to share the hope and good news of Jesus Christ with others, and lived life as a servant to all. With a twinkle in her eye, she brought encouragement, warmth, and laughter to everyone she knew. On those fortunate enough to enter her home, she showered extraordinary hospitality, kindheartedness, and her excellent cooking. She even opened her home over the years to many who needed temporary lodging and medical care, blessing them with compassion and a generosity that is seldom seen in these times. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in harmony with others, especially when worshipping The Lord. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dennis Rapp of Acworth, GA; children Matthew (Nicole) Rapp of Olympia, WA, Noelle (Matthew) Brinkman of Biloxi, MS, Jared Rapp of Acworth, GA and Geoffrey Rapp of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Abigail Rapp, Evan Rapp, Katie Rapp, James Brinkman and Eliza Brinkman; siblings Jack (Jackie) Delamater of Mesa, AZ, Bill (Pat) Delamater of Port Kent, NY, Suzanne Piering of Amsterdam, NY, and Jeff (Christine) Delamater of Peru, NY; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A virtual memorial service for Janette will be held in late February. Please send an email to [email protected] to request an invitation. Janette has had such a big impact in my life! She selflessly took me into her home after I was in a coma. She took me to my physical therapy appointments so that I was able to walk again. She was my biggest cheerleader! She encouraged me to go to college. She visited me in the hospital many times bringing me food and reading bible verses (particularly the books of Acts) She prayed over me whenever I was pregnant and in the hospital. I will miss her so much! She was the funniest, sweetest woman I knew! I considered her as a second mom! I can guarantee that she’s making Jesus laugh so hard he is losing his flip flops!

I had the opportunity to meet Janette when she spent some time in Europe with Dennis. I've met few people so unapologetically fun, funny, energetic, and loving.

These days Heaven is filled with more laughs, more fun, and more love!

Janette and I were high school friends. She had a positive attitude and a warm personality she willingly shared with others. Whenever we ran into each other, I could feel her love for life as we shared many laughs together. Rest in peace my friend!

What a congenial special person Janette was. She will always be special. Her humor, her kindness and ability to interact and love anybody. We loved spending time with her no matter how short it seemed in the Atlanta area. We knew her precious mother also. That humor and aliveness she must have gotten from Betty. Gone to soon but never forgotten. We will surely miss you but believe you are with HIm as you believed. God"s blessings and best to Dennis and family and all who knew and loved her!

I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to know Janette. Her warm and welcoming spirit was a gift to all who entered her home. My heart grieves that she was taken so suddenly, but because of our shared faith, I know I will see her smiling face again one day.

Janette was so full of the spirit. her joy for life and people was absolutely contagious.

As i walked down the aisle at my wedding in 2019 i only remember Janette’s beautiful face. Her eyes filled with tears and her smile glowing.

She was truly the life of the party, and filled everywhere she went with warmth and comfort.

She will be so dearly missed, but i am at peace knowing she is with our Lord and Savior. I can’t wait see her again soon. ❤

I just heard the news today of Janettes passing on Jan 16th. It's hard to believe such a beautiful individual, with a kind heart has left so many family and friends.
My blessings go out to her husband Dennis, and the entire Delamater/Rapp families.
I actually did date Janette back in 1972 for approximately, 1 year. She was always smiling, and would always willing to assist anyone in any way she could. Her sister Sue did graduate with me in 1970 at Draper HS, and remember her brothers.
May the Lord guide you always Janette..

As is written above, Janette was both an amazing mom and a great friend and I was lucky enough to get to experience both aspects of this; from her caring willingness to be a "2nd Mom" to myself and many other of her children's friends to her happiness to shift to being our friend as we grew up beyond elementary, middle and high school, I know my life was enriched by her. We were heartbroken to hear this news, however we know that Janette is now beyond all pain and as difficult as it may be our focus as Believers in Christ is to celebrate this knowledge and also to celebrate the happy memories we have of our time with Janette. Please accept our heartfelt condolences for your loss and know that our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Rapp family during this time.

Janette had one of the biggest hearts and joyous laughs that is seldom encountered in our world. She added fun and sparkle when you were with her. I always knew she loved the Lord, because she would tell you! She will be missed by all. I look forward to seeing her again in Glory, with so many others i love!
