Mr. Caputo or Coach, as I addressed him, was a magnificent 8th grade basketball coach of mine at St Mary's Elementary School in Ballston Spa. A true gentleman of great integrity and spirit. Will always value his coaching and inspiration.
Be with God coach.

I have known John all my life--since the days at the White house--all the stories he use to tell me--always had a smile on his face--and-- a song in his heart--never said a bad word about anyone--always up lifting--see you in heaven my friend--I will always pray for your soul--

I had the opportunity to speak with John a couple of times over the past few weeks and we shared a few laughs. I will miss my buddy. John liked to tease me and I would return the favor. I had breakfast with him two years ago and always thanked him for his service to the United States. John was humble in his stories about World War II. To me John was a true American Hero. Rest well my friend and if they have harness racing in Heaven I know you will be judging and if they need an announcer put in a good word for me.
