Kenneth Forbes Smith Burnt Hills, NY - Kenneth Forbes Smith, age 91, died peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Ellis Hospital, with his wife, Patricia by his side.
Kenneth was born on June 14, 1932, in the Bronx and moved to
Ticonderoga, NY with his parents (now deceased) Mason and Etta (Forbes) Smith, where he grew up.
He graduated from high school, was employed at the International Paper Mill in Ticonderoga, joined the Naval Reserve, and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Kenneth earned his master's degree in physical therapy from Ithaca College. He went on to start his career at Montefiore Hospital in New York, (where he met and married his wife Patricia on October 14, 1961), and then as department head of Physical Therapy at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. His primary goal was to help his patients reach their full potential and he was most proud of his published paper on Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. After retiring, he continued on at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department as a consultant.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Patricia A. (Kerr) Smith; his dear sister Moira (John) Park; his nephew Keith Park; his niece Heather Park Hatchett; his great-nephew Ethan Hatchett; and his great-niece Emily Hatchett. He is also survived by several other extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road,
Ballston Lake, NY.
A Funeral Service will be led by Fr. Gabriel Morrow, Pastor of Calvary Episcopal Church in Burnt Hills, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will conclude Kenneth's services in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
