Leonard Weiss Obituary

Leonard "Lenny" Weiss of Galway NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on April 10th, 2022. He was 71 years old.

Lenny was born September 9, 1950, in Galway NY, by the late Wilson and Theresa (Pastore) Weiss. Galway is where Lenny was raised, and where he was a proud lifetime resident.

A graduate of Galway High School and Hudson Valley Community College, Lenny went on to become a talented general contractor for the business he founded, Weiss Construction. The secret to his success was always being good to others and treating everyone like they were a part of his family. Lenny had a heart of gold and took great pride in volunteering and giving back to others within his community. Lenny's kindness was admired by everyone, including the many rescue animals he adopted into his home. In his younger years, Lenny raced late model stock cars and was a founding member of the band called, The Happy Hobos, where he played the keyboard, accordion, and was a lead singer. Lenny was a retired member and past Asst. Chief of the Galway Volunteer Fire Company with 17 years of active service. He was currently serving as Vice President for the Galway Village Cemetery Association. Above all, his love and spending time with his three sons was his true ultimate joy in life.

Survivors include his three sons, William Weiss, John Weiss and Jason Weiss, all of Galway, NY.

Along with his parents, Lenny is predeceased by his two uncles Leonard Pastore and Peter Pastore of Utica, NY.

Lenny's family would like to take this time to thank the entire Galway community for their love and lifetime support.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 18th, 2022, from either 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Richard J. Two years have passed since we last seen our dear Lenny. His stories and laughter are truly missed. However he has left behind his Boys and what great memories we have as we reminisce about the good old days. They have made so many accomplishments in their community and surrounding areas. Thank you Lenny for sharing your boys with us. We miss you and are thankful everyday for our time with you. Wish you were here. Missing you always,

I've only been in galway for 6 years.
Lenny was always a welcoming smile and story. He would visit with his dog. They were inseparable. Both were so calm and down to earth. The last time we visited he still was upbeat and calm. I will surely miss his visits and smile. It was always nice to see him driving in the village. He would always smile and wave!!!!! May He be joined with his dog and rest in peace. My condolences to his sons.

Dear Billy, John and Jason; my thoughts and prayers are with you all for your loss. When I heard the news I was crushed. I met your dad about six years ago when we hired him to do some work on our house. Since that time he has done many projects for us. He became a great friend and an absolute blessing to my wife and I. Thank you Lenny for your quality work, all the laughs, your caring nature and your huge heart. RIP my friend.

We have many fond memories but one that stands out is on our wedding day. We had the Happy Hobos play. It was such a fun night! We moved away years ago but whenever we seen Lenny during our visits back home he´d always talk about that night. Rest In Peace Lenny.
