Mabel E. Roque

Mabel E. (nee: Scarborough) Roque, 99, of Schenectady, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Glendale Nursing Home, where she had been a resident. Born in Salisbury, Vermont on January 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Perley and Minnie (nee: Forrest) Scarborough. She was raised and educated in Vermont. She married Belgium B. "Tex" Roque and they moved to the Schenectady area in 1943. Together, they were communicants of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Mabel was a matron and worked for Niskayuna School System for many years. She enjoyed sewing and was a hardworking lady. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and during her life was the beloved matriarch to five generations. On October 5, 1964, Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Belgium B. Roque. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Muldowney of North Carolina and Linda Roque of Schenectady; her brothers, Kenneth (Audrey) Scarborough of FL and VT and Leonard Scarborough of NH; three grandchildren, Betty Peek, Gary Peek Jr. and John Muldowney Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Michele Blair, Alicia Peek and Nicole Merrill; four great-great-grandchildren, Lindsay Blair, Natalee Blair, Hazel Merrill and Maxwell Merrill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Mohawk Trail Unit at the Glendale Nursing Home for all of their care, understanding and compassion.
