Peter Sementilli Obituary

Peter Anthony Sementilli Jr., 65 of Rotterdam Junction, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family by his side. Peter was born in Jamaica, NY and moved to Schenectady, in 1969 with his family. A 1974 graduate of Linton High School, Peter was a long time employee of the City of Schenectady for thirty-five years. He was married to the love of his life, Karen (Liscio) for nearly thirty years. Peter and Karen owned and operated Capri Imports Italian Deli on Broadway in Schenectady since 1993 after his parents, Peter and Gina retired. He loved being at the store so much, and kept the traditions going that his parents started and now, his younger cousin Anthony has taken over to carry on where Peter left off. Peter was the Patriarch of the family, always there for whatever we needed. His life revolved around them. He had many cousins who were dear to him. He loved catching up with his friends at the cappuccino bar on Sundays. He made lots of friends over the years, the list is too long to mention. We would like to acknowledge the friendship of Father Frisoni who became such an important part of his life and Peter looked forward to his visits every Sunday. Peter had a great sense of humor, rough at times. His nieces Christina and Dianna, and also R.J. and Mike Brush meant the world to him and held a special place in his heart. Peter was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, Godfather, and a great friend to so many. His wife Karen was always by his side over the years through thick and thin. She took such great care of him. He was predeceased by his parents Peter Sementilli and Gina (Scarappichia), his mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Catherine Liscio, brother-in-law, Ralph Liscio (surviving wife Terry). He loved spending time with all of them and missed them dearly. Peter is survived by his loving wife Karen, sister, Anna Friskey (Fred) and their daughter, Christina Friskey-Davis (Steve), also sister, Lucia Carroll (James) and their family Dianna Russell (Jeremy), John, Jimmy, Shannen, and Brayden Carroll. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 22, at 12 noon at St. Paul the Apostle Church on Albany St., followed by entombment to which everyone is welcome, in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery. For everyone's safety, at the family's request, we ask all who attend to please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Peter in a special way may make a contribution to the ASPCA or a charity of ones choice. Peter's family is heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed. Many, many fond memories through the years. However, the best were growing up in the early 1970's as teenagers gathering at the Howe School playground. There was always something to do, and someone to do it with. Great bunch of guys and gals enjoying our youth together. Peter was a huge part of those days. Although the miles between us had limited our time together, when we did catch up, it would always provide some great belly bustin' laughs reminiscing those days. I will miss him... Rest in peace Semer. Bobby D.

I still remember the first time that Peter came to the Howe School playground and we met. We immediately became friends, and it was a real Lifelong friendship!
Peter had the unique ability to bring people together as friends and of course everyone wanted to be a Howe Hood. He helped to create the bond of friendship for so many and for so many years. Great memories and some of the best times in our lives of playing sandlot games and Off the Wall into the never-ending summer nights.
God Bless you Pete!

So many memories of Pete. Hanging out at Home School, going to Wildwood, hitting all the hot spots in the city. Later years was gathering in the back of Capri on Christmas Eve and catching up! You will be missed Peter! Most sincere condolences to Lucy and the whole Semintelli family! God's blessings on all of you!

To Pete's family--Some if us from the Howe School playground of our youth get together on occasion. Pete's name will be recalled, as he was always fond of recalling memories from his sandlot days at Howe. May God's strength be with you and all his loved ones during this time of loss and grief. With sincere sympathy...

Peter was my lifelong best friend, best man, and Godfather y tutu o my daughter, Kellie. He was a loyal, giving friend to many, with a heart of gold. His life´s passions were his friends, family, home, and business. Over the years "Semer" has arranged parties, trips, dinners, reunions, poker games, and events. His sense of humor was non-stop. He will be missed but always remembered.
I love you, my brother.

Peter was a part of our family for as long as I remember, and a true brother to my brother, Karl. They had a bond that was insurmountable, love and respect for one another. You else would send Karl in NJ a ham pie! Our mom started Capri for ham and other delicacies long ago, and the legacy continues. Karen was always a blessing, and our time goes back as well. Lucy, Anna and families are special people, and I consider them along with Karen, angels. Peter is not suffering, and left a mark all in the name of love.
