Robert A. Fear

Robert A. Fear, age 94, of Schenectady, NY, passed away on August 30, 2023 at a Nursing Facility after a brief illness.

Robert was a graduate of the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler with a Bachelor Degree of Marine Engineering. He was an accomplished engineer employed by General Electric as well as serving in the Naval Reserves for many years. Robert retired from GE Knolls Atomic Power Lab in 1991.

Married for 62 years, Robert was a loving husband to Dorothy T. Fear who passed away in 2015. He was also a dedicated member of Niskayuna Reformed Church.

Survivors are daughter Debra L. Wynyard and her husband Peter of Syracuse, son Mark A. Fear of Mount Joy, PA, sister-in-law Beverly K. Schuttler and her husband William of Lewes, Delaware, sister-in-law Virginia Fear. Granddaughters Mrs. Jennifer Mellinger and Mrs. Nichole Fear DeAzpeitia, and Mrs. Diana Wynyard-Lara. Great-grandchildren Timothy Mellinger, Greg Mellinger, Luke Mellinger, Joclyn Azpeitia, Christopher Azpeitia, Osvaldo (Carter) Lara, Reid Lara, and Cooper Lara. Also surviving are cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A calling hour will be held Friday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY 12205. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m.

After that a private family-only burial service will take place at the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery.

Flowers may be sent to the Jones Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
