Vilma and I worked for the SCSD for many years. Though we were not always working in the same school building, when we saw each other it always was a conversation full of positive thoughts and laughter. Vilma was a bright light. She made the world a better place. May her memory be a blessing.

Dearest Vilma,
When I was so sick with COVID, alone and weak, you appeared on my doorstep like an angel with not one, but two containers of the best eggplant parm I've ever tasted. Your thoughtfulness touched my soul at a time when no one else was paying attention. And now, as all those flowers we bought together from Lowe's bloom each summer, I will think of you, my friend, and remember your kindness and gentle spirit. It's hard to believe you're gone. The neighborhood just won't be the same without you, girly.

My condolences to the .Velma came by and visited me a while back I saw her walking back to my garden she would always come over and look at my garden she gave a sign that says "Welcome "every year it's up in my garden. In the year 2008 Velma and I were able to travel to SGI FNCC..Florida Nature Cultural Center... being a member... we were so elated and so happy. She enjoyed this event....and yes she has her hat on..(right side lower white hat you know she is happy look at the smile on her face even though she's partially hidden).
So when she came to my garden this year she saw the sign and still said oh you still have it and I said I just painted different colors every year which I will do again this year and until RIP...FUZZY rest in peace the universe is blessed...

I think I worked with Vilma on one occasion, literally one meeting. But that is all it took to become friendly with each other. Over the years we shared hugs, bright smiles and enjoyed running into each other at district conferences, retirements or seeing each other in the hallways when I was meeting with other school teams. I can see here what an amazing person she was to so many; I feel blessed to have known her. Thoughts and prayers to her friends and family as you grieve the loss of Vilma. You have beautiful memories to keep her spirit alive.

For Vilma

The love you had for us, can not be described in words
Your touch was warm and full of trust
I say with smile you called me your grandchild

How fortunate I was to hear you laugh
I know you still are smiling from far
You inspired me to believe in life
You held me tight when I could not rise

You will always be here in my heart, my lovely mama fuzzy
I wish to be you for someone like you were for me
I'll miss you dearly, I'll miss you truly

It is with great sadness that we have received the information that Vilma has passed away and we offer our deepest condolences.  Vilma was a super energetic, fun loving, caring, vibrant person who gave everything she could and had to help her students within Schenectady City School District as an occupational therapy assistant for over 20 years.  Vilma fought her diagnosis the way she approached life and was said to be the life of the party at her chemo sessions.  She always had a smile and tried to keep everyone else smiling.  She always was looking at the bright or positive side of life and danced her way through. Miss Vilma was an excellent therapist and a very good friend to all of her students as well as everyone she encountered in her path.  She was a shining star in our OT/PT department and was a ray of light always for us and her students.  We were saddened by her retirement and now extremely saddened by her death.  She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
