I worked with Bill @ Mohawk Honda, he was the most compassionate man I think I have ever met. Definitely on the top of the list of my favorite people. They just don't seem to make them like him anymore, which is needed in this world! Godspeed Bill, love you buddy.

Dear Melvin and family, I was so sad to read of the passing of your brother, Billy. He was a very good friend to my late husband, Stuart. I remember listening to my husband tell me how much the two of them enjoyed so many years growing up in the neighborhood. Billy was a very kind, caring man that brought happiness to so many. I, too, had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace. My prayers to you and your family.

Billy Dorr was truly one of my best & closest friends. My fondest & happiest memories of Billy go back to our college days were we played on the Junior College of Albany basketball team under the coaching of former Siena Basketball Coach & Hall of Famer Bill Kirsch. Billy was a gifted starting forward for our NCC Championship team in 1966-67. We formed a close relationship that continued & flourished by going on vacation together, my Halloween Parties in the early 80's, same softball team for several years, walks around Indian Hills & many lunches together. Through all the years I had this Gentlemen as a friend, I never saw Bill raise his voice. If there is a definition for the word Gentlemen in the dictionary, it would have Bill's picture next to it. We were preparing for summer time around my pool to relax & reminisce of the last 50+ years of friendship. I will miss my friend dearly.
My sincere condolences to Bill's Family. My prayers are with you.

Bill was one of the good guys. He was a pleasure to work with, and quickly became a friend. We often ran into each other at Cumberland before work, paying for each other's coffee, whoever got there first. Loved the stories about Scout. I will miss seeing him around town and catching up.

All of us that had the privilege of working with Bill Dorr were Blessed. He was a shining example of what a real man should be. He cared for the Families and Children of New York State that he served with compassion and dignity. He was the best coworker and supervisor that you could ask for, always encouraging and supporting those under his leadership. He was a gentleman and proof that the content of a man´s character is what will always be remembered. I consider myself Blessed and Highly Favored to have shared so many wonderful years working with him. Rest In Peace my friend.

To the Family of Bill Dorr,
I start with an apology because I have a conflict and will be unable to attend his calling hour and service. I am attending a wake and mass for a close friend scheduled at the very same time. I am very sorry to miss the opportunity to honor this good man who contributed to the lives of children in NYS. I worked with Bill Dorr when he was a Protective worker with Schenectady DSS. I was a day care director serving many children involved with Protective Services for children. He was a competent, caring person who had the ability to be calm in crisis situations. I later worked with him in the NYS Albany Regional Office ,NYS Office of Children abd Familiy Services. He was a very hard- working person focused on services to meet the needs or children and often working extra hours. He was kind and pleasant to everyone he worked with and and served. He was a strong and quiet leader and he is a loss to everyone who knew him.I send comfort to his family and I am sorry for this loss for all us.Mabel Leon

Our daughter, Sarah, and her family were blessed when they moved to Glenville to find Bill was their neighbor. His immediate fondness for our grandchildren was apparent from the beginning and he became a loving member of our family. My husband and I got to know him as the sweet man he was. It was a blow when he first became ill a year ago, and his passing has crushed us all. To know him was to love him. He will NOT be forgotten.

To Bill's family;
Words alone cannot express my sadness in hearing about Bill's passing and my heartfelt sympathy, prayers and condolences go out to you. Bill was a very good friend of mine we go back to the early 70's where we played on a Championship softball team in 1973 and got together on many occasions, he was one of the most kindest and mild mannered people I have ever met never heard him raise his voice other than on the ball field, he was great person and athlete. I recently spoke to him and we made plans to get together for lunch, I knew he was ill but he told me he was doing well, to see his obituary today made me sad and upset. RIP Bill we shall see each other again.
