Oh my goodness,...I just learned of Senator Geo-Karis' passing! I loved her sooo much! My mom (Catherine Gates) used to work for RSVP and they did a lot of things together down the line some years ago and she approved me for a small scholarship for college and I really appreciated it. She was a very sweet woman.

We have just learned of Geo's passing. Senator Geo-Karis took Andy and me under her wings when we were in Illinois. She was a great influence upon many people, as I found out through working for her as a legal assistant and as an Aide. I had sent her a Christmas card that was returned, so I now know that she knows we still thought of her. May God bless her family in their loss. We will miss her, but we know she is reaping her reward!

We are very sadddened to hear of the passing of Senator Geo-Karis. She has been a shinning light for so many of us since we were children. Whether the Senator was in the political arena or active in the Ahepa organization she was always a dedicated, humble individual who always found the time to assist anyone in need. On a few occasions I saw the Senator in Springfield...when she walked into a room people were in awe. Throughout the years the Senator has impressed us in so many ways that some of us have altered our lives. She will always be remembered.

Geo was a great woman. She was also a trailblazer, showing other women that with education, hard work, dedication, morals and ethics, you can accomplish anything. Geo served as one of my role models and mentors, and her love for this country, her heritage and her church were unprecidented. Geo was a very good friend of our family, and I was blessed to have the opportunity to spend time with her on several occassions as she mentored me. It was amazing watching her interact with her public and her community, and I learned a great deal from her. God bless Geo - she will be missed. May her memory be eternal.

Oh my. Where do I start and end about Senator Geo. So many fond memories, solid advice, encouraging words, amazing sense of humor, "spunky" as anybody could ever be, courageous, loving, kindhearted, compassionate, personable, enduring...to name a few. I loved Geo with all my heart. What a class act! Thanks Geo. I'll miss you my friend. God will wipe away all of our tears and soothe our aching hearts.

Farewell to a great politician and American. So many lives have been touched and bettered because of GEO. A truly "dedicated to the cause" person who never wavered. Condolences to the family - but what lovely memories to hold as you endure this sadness.

I had the opportunity to work for Adeline when she ran (and won) for Mayor of Zion, IL. I was taking a political science class at CLC when she was the guest speaker. She immediately recognized me in the class. If I ever decide to run for Mayor of Zion one day, I'll have her smile and her gutsiness to look over me. Whenever I attended Civic events Adeline was there. My condolences to her family and to the City of Zion

I have known Geo for 65 years. I met her when I was working at the 9th District Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, IL. She was intimidating at first sight. She was sharp as a tack, had the tenacity of a bulldog and the memory of an elephant. She had a great sense of humor, she was down-to-earth, well-liked, endearing, exasperating at times, but an excellent listener. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

To all those who loved her...she will be greatly missed. Helping all who needed her, NO was not in her vocabulary. Let us all try to fill her shoes and do at least one kind thing to someone else without thinking about ourselves. I will miss you, Adeline, and enjoyed working in the community with you. I'll catch up to you in heaven. Prayers to your family & friends. Ginny Fuentes

Adeline helped me place my adult son in a residential home. I couldn't have done it without her. He is happy. She always helped people that needed it by just making a phone call. God broke the mold because he was pleased with what she was & who she became. May you rest in peace after working a lifetime for others!

Lake County will never forget this wonderful lady. She will live on in everyones hearts. Many years ago when my brother was very ill all I was getting was phone hang ups and doors closed in my face. Adeline listened to me for 45 minutes (I know she was very busy) but she was actually interested and concerned with our ordeal. She was truly a politician with a heart. We will all miss her but what a wonderful life she led.

Her ancient ancestors had a beautiful expression, "within the oyester shell the purest pearl hides." This is so appropriate description of Geo, because even though she appeared strong, and sometimes threateningly overwhelming, she was very kind and loving person within.
At the age of 89, Geo answered Gods' call to a life everlasting, where there is no pain,or sorrow, or suffering.
May her memory be eternal.

"Geo" was a force to be reckoned with & provides many of us with colorful memories and stories. I certainly witnessed some of the most colorful debates of my life! As a young woman in my early 20's I gained her respect by refusing to be intimated by her & standing up to her strong personality(at least that is what she told me!) She helped expand my knowledge and education of politics, government, and law which were invaluable to my job those many years ago, and remain so today. She was the definitive public servant. Her accomplishments in an era of a male dominated environment in the paths she chose are amazing.
I am sorry for the family's loss. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to know such a remarkable person.

GEO:
I am in tears as I address you at this time of your passing. I was very happy when you called me from Lake Las Vegas Henderson, Nevada from the Ritz Carlton to visit since you were in town for a conference. The following day Jim and I took you to the airport and did not realize that was our final farewell to you.
You were a great and most sincere friend and my MENTOR. I must relate a memory of the past when you in your convertible picked myself and Sue Minas from East Moline to drive to Southbend, Ind for Leo Lambrerson's testimonial. You were Grand President, he The Supreme President, Bill Belroy the District Governor and yours truly the District Governor of the 13th District. Guess what we did enroute, it was a Sunday morning and we performed the entire Liturgy, she took the part of the Priest, Sue was the choir and I did the chanting. However, on our way back Monday Morning she was speeding and we were in a hurry to get back to our jobs and were stopped by a police officer ready to give Geo a ticket, plus she had an unexpired drivers license being so busy in her career did not have the time to take care of it. He read the riot act and did not ticket her stating you know in your court room what you would tell the defendent. She said YES AND I PROMISE not to speed again.Officer when you are in Chicago stop at my Sister Toulas restaurant for dinner and tell her I sent you.
That is the GEO I remember and let me tell you GEO Thank you for calling when you last visited Nevada.
May you now rest in peace AND MAY YOUR MEMORY BE ETERNAL.
Love in Christ and Love in Theta Pi,
Jim joins me in extending our condolances.

I am so sorry to hear about Adeline passing. When I first moved to Zion, age 13, I went knocking on doors to get work. She gave me my very first job, cleaning her yard, gutters and drive. I took care of her house for many years, and continued keeping in touch while in College. When I was elected President of the Ill Fire Chiefs Assn, my Mayor and I visited her in Springfield many times. She then placed me on a State Committee for the Fire Service. There are so many positive things to say and share about Adeline GeoKaris --
I got to know her many years ago; when she was the Attorney for the Village of Mundelein; at which time I worked as the Secretary (before we were called "Administrative Assistants" --) for the Commander of the then "Special Services" at U.S. Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL. She and the village of Mundelein were ALWAYS doing wonderful things for the VietNam vets, at that time. (I arranged the activities.)
She also helped my son, at a very dubious time; for which I shall always be grateful. She certainly wasn't afraid to give of herself; and share her knowledge and treasures of experiences.
Quite a lady - she shall be missed by many!! She indeed was a blessing while on this earth.
