JIM DESORMEY Obituary

Jim (James) Desormey Jim (James) Desormey passed away Aug. 8, 2012, after a very lengthy illness. He was born in Chicago, on Nov. 7, 1926, to Lee and Mary Desormey. He attended Chicago schools and continued at Illinois Wesleyan University, graduating from there. From 1944-46, he served in the Army in World War II. Jim was a teacher and athletic coach in Pontiac, IL for 11 years until starting a new job at Waukegan High School in 1961. He retired in 1988, and at that time moving to Libertyville, IL. He is survived by his wife, Dee (Dolores) of 61 years; one daughter, Gail Lauder (Jack Thornton) of Coral Springs, FL; three grandchildren, Candace (Adam) Andar of Plantation, FL, Dana (Bob) Harvey of Kensoha, WI, and Keith Desormey of Gurnee, IL; daughter-in-law, Jane Desormey of Gurnee; and many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by a son, Kent and daughther, Kay; his parents and his only sibling, Lee Desormey; sister-in-law, Elaine Desormey, and sister-in-law, Beverly Blum. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 11, 2012, at the United Methodist Church, 429 Brainard Ave., in Libertyville, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Alzheimer's Fund would be appreciated. Mr. Desormey was an awesome teacher. I had him for drivers ed. I graduated with Kent and am very saddened to learn of his passing.
