JOHN CRABBE Obituary

John H. "Jack" Crabbe Sr. John H. "Jack" Crabbe Sr., father of Deborah, John Jr. (Manon O'Connor), Mary (Roger) Illg, Michael and Philip (Carolyn) Crabbe; grandfather of Aaron and Adam Ludewig, Gabriel Shalless, John W. Crabbe, Keith and Eric Illg, and Julie, Ashley and Elissa Crabbe; and great-grandfather to Berit Illg. Jack was born in North Hampton, Mass. He married Madeline R. Fayette of Burlington, Vt., on June 28, 1947. His beloved "Megs" preceded him him in death Sept. 27, 2002. Jack graduated from Holy Cross College in 1937. Afterward he went on to graduate school at Bay Path Institute from 1937 to 1939, followed by studying advanced accounting at Northeastern University from 1941 to 1942. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served on the eastern front in Burma and India. He had a long and distinguished career in the development field, and completed his career at Loyola University on Dec. 18, 1981, as the assistant vice president of development for the college. Jack loved to play cards especially cribbage, and was the Vermont State champion in 1956. His love of cards was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Jack spent the last eight years at Sunrise of Schaumburg, serving as president of the resident's council. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Michael's Funeral Home, 800 South Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Jack will be brought to Burlington for a memorial service and burial at a future date to be announced. Donations can be made to Hospice.
