John Mudrick

John Mudrick of Grayslake Visitation for John Mudrick will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, proceeding to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, for a Mass starting at 11 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, entombment will take place at the Warren Cemetery, accompanied by a military honor guard. Born June 19, 1921, in Mount Carmel, Pa., to Anna Valencik and John Mudrick, he died at 12:24 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008. John Mudrick served our nation during World War II in the Rome/Arno to the Po Valley, Italy campaigns and was honorably discharged from the Blue Devil's 88th Division. Upon release from his military duties, he returned to his position with General Electric. He graduated from the University of Bridgeport, Conn. with a B.S. in accounting. He was promoted within GE and moved to Louisville, Ky., retiring from GE after 40 years of service. He was passionate about his roses and loved gardening, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed playing excellent bridge, as well as being an avid reader. While in Kentucky, he volunteered for many years at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fern Creek. Survivors include two brothers, Edward Mudrey of Shelton, Conn. and Leonard Mudrick of Naugatuck, Conn.; two nieces, Susan Rosa of Athol, Mass. and Pamela Rossi of Framingham, Mass. John married Martha Mary (nee Frederick). They have three sons, John D. Mudrick (Lissa May); Michael B. Mudrick and his sons, Jason Scott and Michael Kim and Brian E. Mudrick (Mary Coduti) and his son, Nicholas Vincent. Memorial contributions may be made for Mass intentions or to a charity of the donor's choice. For information, 847-855-2760.
