1939 - 2017

HAMPSHIRE - Joseph A. Bestler, 78, of Hampshire passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, 2017 in Naperville. He was born Oct. 8, 1939 in Chicago the son of Frank and Juanita (Burkel) Bestler. Joe married Eve (Stuart) Bestler in 1962 and moved to the Hampshire area in 1972 where they raised their 5 children. After Eve's passing in 1995, Joe married Sharon (Geary) Wojcik. Joe established the Bestler Corp. in 1976 specializing in plumbing projects. He served as Chairman of pensions and health and welfare for Union Local #507 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. Joe was a devoted member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire having served on the finance council and remodeling committees. Surviving are his wife, Sharon; children, Steven, Michael (Gina), David (Dianna) Mary (Matt) Noncek, and Timothy; step children, Timothy Wojcik, and Julie Weller; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Rott, John Bestler, Jim Bestler, and Jerry (Pam) Bestler. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eve; granddaughter, Veronica Bestler; sister, Diane Berry; and infant sister, Lynda Bestler. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Monday, Dec. 18 at the St. Charles Borromeo Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave in Hampshire with Rev. Sylvester Nnaso officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm on Sunday at the church with prayers at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. The Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is assisting the family.
