Matthew E. Johnson

Matthew Elliott Johnson, 43, of Woodridge, Illinois, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Mack, CO. Born June 16, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois, Matt lived a life full of passion and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear.

A 1999 graduate of Romeoville High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 2003 to 2005 as a rifleman with the 1st LAR Bn in Iraq.

Matt, a devoted husband, father, and Chiefs fan, believed in treating others with fairness and respect. He embraced people from all walks of life without judgment or hesitation.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marissa Johnson (nee Neitzel); his children, Lijah, Mia, and Matthew; his mother, Gwenetta; his siblings, Melanie Kirksy, Mary Paul, and Marquinn McDonald; and many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. McDonald.

Visitation and funeral held March 1, 2025, at 10:30 AM at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Bolingbrook, IL. A Celebration of Life will take place from 2-5 PM at Q Bar, Darien, IL.
