MATTHEW LORENZ Obituary

GENEVA - Matthew P. "Matt" Lorenz, age 89, longtime resident of Geneva, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at Halina's Senior Residential Services, St. Charles surrounded by his family. He was born September 21, 1925 in Aurora, the son of Matthew and Susan (Kackert) Lorenz. Matt worked for Burgess Norton for many years as an inspector. He enjoyed fishing, deer and pheasant hunting and was a volunteer fireman. Matt was an avid reader, particularly non-fiction and loved shopping for a great deal. Matt was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather and wonderful friend and loved spending time with his family and friends. Matt is survived by his children Sharon (Ernie) Brain of Aurora, Larry (Virginia) of Batavia and Carol (Craig) Livingston of St. Charles; grandchildren Shawn, Dan, Michael, Grant, Matthew, John and Philip; great-grandchildren Audryna and Mikayla; daughter-in-law Nancy of Geneva; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Gary, brothers Ray and John, sister Rosemary Phillip and loving wife Cora (Filippini) who passed away in 2004. Funeral prayers will be held Friday September 4, 2015 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Mass at 10:30 am, Father Martins Emeh celebrating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated and will be directed to Matt's caregivers, Bernice and Elizabeth, who took great care of him.
