Richard J. "Dick" Fink

Richard Fink Obituary

Richard J. "Dick" Fink Richard J. "Dick" Fink, 91, born Aug. 1, 1917, was the beloved husband of the late Adeline "Lari" M.; dearest father of Richard (Barbara), James (Linnea), Thomas (Peggy), Joseph and John (predeceased); proud grandfather of Richard III and Michelle, Jennifer and Michael, Nora and Sydney; very proud great-grandfather of William, Joseph, Brendan, Samantha and Avarey; dear brother to June Graham, Joseph Fink (deceased), Bernice Fink (deceased) and Harriet Tasto (deceased). Dick was born and raised in Chicago. He played saxophone while attending Senn High School and during his college years at Loyola University, where he had a dance band called "Dick Fink and his Orchestra." He received his JD from Northwestern University Law School. In 1942 he joined the Army, where he served for the Department of Intelligence. While stationed in Milwaukee he met his future wife, Lari, who happened to be assigned as his secretary. They were married for almost 60 years until her death in 2004. He retired as owner of Richard J. Fink & Co., a life insurance business he ran for 40 years. He earned a lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Round Table for continued excellence in meeting the complex insurance needs of his clients, mainly business owners, lawyers and other professionals. He and Lari lived and raised their family of five boys in Park Ridge, where he resided for 44 years. He loved golf and traveling. As a member of the Park Ridge Country Club, he was most proud of his only hole-in-one on the ninth hole! He and Lari traveled the world from Afghanistan to Malaysia, Alaska to South America, Scandinavia to Africa. He also loved to spend the cold Chicago winter months in Naples, Fla. Dick moved to The Moorings retirement community in Arlington Heights in 2000, where he actively served on committees and enjoyed participating in pool tournaments. He especially was proud of and treasured his rose garden. The immediate family will gather privately to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Paul of the Cross Church, 320 S. Washington Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068, would be appreciated.
