ROBERT BRISKEY Obituary

Robert J. Briskey of Des Plaines The memorial service for Robert J. Briskey will be held Thursday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond's Catholic Church, Mount Prospect. Born Dec. 4, 1924, in Detroit, he died Saturday, May 12, 2012. Bob was one of the pioneers in the field of audiology following World War II. He was an educator teaching at Wayne State University, Detroit, and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee: In 1962, he accepted a position as director of rehabilitation services and senior research audiologist for Zenith Radio Corp. There he developed several hearing aids for which he received two U.S. patents. In 1975, he became director of educational services at Beltone Electronics Corp., from which he retired. During his more than 50 years in the hearing industry, he published over 50 articles on hearing aid related topics, wrote several chapters for audiology texts and gave more than 400 platform presentations in the field of hearing all over the world. Bob is survived by his wife, Karen, with whom he would have celebrated 28 years of marriage in July; his children, daughter, Beth (Charles) Brickler, son, Bradford Briskey and his stepson, Colin (Shannon) Cranmer,; his grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Schroeder, Joseph (Meagan) Brickler, Rachel Briskey, Robin Briskey, Helena Cranmer and Adessa Cranmer; and his great-granddaughter, Emily Schroeder. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Briskey (nee Levitan) Briskey; and his son, Robert John Briskey. A Remembrance Reception will be held Thursday, May 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Friendship Park Conservatory, 395 Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018. Burial will be private in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carmelite Monastery, 949 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016, would be appreciated. Arrangements were made by Cremation Society of Illinois, 1-800-622-8358.

I'm very sorry you lost your father. I never got to know him very well, unfortunately. I just heard today of his passing through my sister Margaret. I hope you continue to feel his presence and I hope he is living eternally.
